BIO - Ivan Lumala

Mr. Lumala holds a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science from Seattle Pacific University , and a Masters of Software Engineering from Seattle University . Mr. Lumala has worked at Microsoft for over 16 years, 12 of those years in different technical roles in the Developer Tools (Visual Studio) product group. Some of his previous roles include Lead Software Design Engineer in Test for the Visual J++ Debugger, Lead Software Design Engineer in Test for Microsoft Help Runtime Engine, and several Software Design Engineer in Test roles.

In his current role as Academic Relations Manager, Mr. Lumala seeks to establish research and curriculum development partnerships between Microsoft and faculty in the major universities in 5 western states; Hawaii, Washington, Idaho, Oregon, and Utah.

Mr. Lumala is co-founder of Leadership Advancement International (LAI ) http://laiweb.org an organization whose mission is to bridge the leadership gap in developing countries by educating young men and women of high leadership potential, nurturing and mentoring them to realize their potential, and facilitating their successful repatriations to their home countries. One of the organization's areas of focus is cultivating the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship in these future leaders.
